Taking a Stroll Along 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen
Brittany and Jeremy are a fun, young couple based out of Edmonton, Canada, although this year decided to spend the winter months vacationing in the heart of the Mayan Riviera, right here in Playa del Carmen. We were fortunate enough to meet this free-spirited couple through an organized night out via Meetup.com. As it turns out, it was their first weekend in town, and decided to check out the night of comedy at a local pizzeria in town called Lucky Luciano’s. Needless to say, we hit it off with the similarities of being new in town, and new to winters with no snow, as most Canadians don’t ever experience that. Throughout the months, we got to know the couple closer, and they also had some surprises up their sleeves too, like putting together an amazing website devoted to exploring the Riviera Maya. The unveiling of Vacation Information gave us that much more of a reason to suggest a simple get together, so we could provide them with some professional photos to use on their site rather than rely solely on camera phone photos. And, it also meant we got to spend an afternoon hanging out with friends, photographing them for in their essence, strolling along 5th Ave, stopping off at the amazing café Chez Celine for a coffee before continuing on our way.
It was a chance to catch up on all they have been up to while staying in Mexico for the winter, and learning about some of their travel plans. Next up on their site was listings for Los Cabos, which I am pleased to say they have information available for there now too. These two are young, and should be an inspiration to other young couples out there that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. We continued along the route, stopping off at a few of their favourite outdoor areas leading back to the apartment they were calling home for the time being. We chatted some more of their travel and work plans, with the idea to expand the options to not only include other Mexican destination spots, but other parts of the Caribbean as well. The world is at their fingertips and their options seem endless, so here’s hoping them nothing but success in their future endeavours with this blossoming business adventure. We were happy to offer some of our work to be featured on their site as well, since they cover everything from dental & medical advice to photography, spa & beauty information. We took some time to appreciate their rooftop view overlooking the Caribbean sea to one side, and the treetops and town of Playa del Carmen on the other. It is a rather spectacular view, and it turns out that the sunset is infinitely more impressive. We snapped a few extra shots, including a tip of the hat to the iconic image of Marilyn Monroe over the grate, having her skirt blown up by the air. All in all, it was the perfect afternoon with a perfect couple.
